Dr Beatrice Luciola
Dr Beatrice Luciola, BDS (Manchester UK), MSc, MOrth RCSEd
Beatrice is registered as a Specialist Orthodontist by the General Dental Council. Her passion for orthodontics has now led her into full-time practice, treating private patients, but here is a brief outline of her extensive training, experience and special interests.
Beatrice graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Manchester where she won an award from the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry for her study of team care and patient satisfaction.
She went on to specialise in orthodontics and in 2003 was awarded a Master of Science in Orthodontics (MSc), also from the University of Manchester.
On completion of her specialist training, Beatrice was awarded a diploma in orthodontics and granted Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) with awards from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
During her postgraduate work, Beatrice also tutored undergraduate students in oral surgery and orthodontic nurses in clinical and digital photography.
Beatrice also has a special interest in the research and treatment of cleft lip and palate, the study of which has not only gained her an MSc in Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP) team care, but has also led her into the field of charity work.
She is now an active charity campaigner, dedicating her time and expertise to improving the treatment of people suffering from cleft lip and palate in developing regions of Kenya. In the early 1990s, she helped to set up Operation Smile Kenya and now spends a month each year in the country supporting the charity's ongoing work.
She has launched her own foundation helping people with serious health issues in and around Funzi Island in Kenya, alongside teams of healthcare professionals from the UK and overseas.
Beatrice is a member of the British Dental Association (BDA), the British Orthodontic Society, British Lingual Orthodontics Society and British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
